I guess that is because our traditional cake have too mush unhealthy ingredients, ex : a lot of cream (XD) or maybe we don’t really have cool cake for adult to celebrate their birthday.

But we have special cake for new born babies when they safely passing the first month.
We call “滿月(mǎn yuè)/ a month old”.
Full moon cakes, red eggs* and oil rice*  are given to parents’ relatives , friends and neighbors.

    台灣傳統食物「油飯」是用乾香菇、蝦米、醬油做的炒飯。(shiitake 即「花菇,松茸」
  • And handing out cakes meant that it was a girl.
    而分送蛋糕代表生的是女兒。

But now, cakes and oil rice are usually given together for both boys and girls.
但現在不論生男生女,經常會蛋糕和油飯都送。
